I appreciate you all being here – interacting with you all is one of the best parts of having a blog.I'm so happy and excited to be writing my 200th post from here.My all time favorite ice-cream is chocolate ice-cream and I'm celebrating my 200th post with my homemade chocolate ice-cream.Chocolate ice cream is a flavor of ice cream. It is the second most common flavor of ice cream, after vanilla.The flavor has been in existence for well over a hundred years, and has been popular in the United States since the late 19th century.Chocolate ice cream is made by blending in cocoa powder in along with the eggs, cream, vanilla and sugar used to make ice cream. The cocoa powder gives the ice cream a brown color. Chocolate ice cream is used in the creation of other flavors, such as rocky road. Other flavors of ice cream contain chocolate chips mixed in with the ice cream (for example, Chocolate Chocolate Chip(double chocolate chip) ice cream is made with chocolate ice cream, Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream is made with mint ice cream, and (plain) Chocolate Chip ice cream made with vanilla ice cream).
Chocolate–8 oz(you can use both milk and dark chocolate)
Sweetened Condensed Milk–1 can
Heavy Whipped cream–2 cups
Cocoa powder-2 tbsp
Pure vanilla extract-1/2 tsp
Chopped chocolate chip-1/4 cup for garnishing(optional)
An air tight container
1-Cut the chocolate to smaller pieces using a knife,so that they will melt faster and more evenly.
2-Place cut chocolate pieces in a microwave-safe bowl.Cook on full power,checking at 20 second intervals,stirring each time.
3-Stop heating when most,but not all,of the chocolate pieces are melted,there should be a few chunks left.
4-Stir until it is smooth and pieces are completely melted.(Approx. 2 minutes total cooking time.Microwave power and exact times can vary.)Be careful not to overcook
5-Then add condensed milk,cocoa powder,vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.Mix well and cook another 20 secs.Keep aside and let cool down completely.
6-Chill the clean bowl of a stand mixer and the whisk attachment in the freezer for 15-20 minutes.Add heavy whipped cream to the bowl and whisk on high speed until medium peaks form,about 2 minutes.
(Alternatively,you can use a hand whisk and a large chilled bowl.Whisk heavy whipped cream until medium peaks form, about 5 to 6 minutes.)
7-Add chocolate and condensed milk mixture in the cream bowl and fold them properly but very gently.
8-Transfer to an airtight container,garnish some chopped chocolate chips and freeze until firm or 5-6 hours or overnight.
9-Serve chilled with some chocolate chips or chocolate sauce or with lava cake and enjoy.
