Vermicelli-2 cups
Chopped Onions-1
Chopped Vegetables-1 cup(I used carrots,beans,cauliflower florets and green peas)
Chopped Green chili-2
Chopped Ginger-1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Chana dal-2 tsp
Turmeric-a pinch (optional)
Chili powder-1/2 tsp
Red chili-1
Salt to taste
oil-4 tsp
water 4 cups


1-Roast the vermicelli using 2 tsp of oil(but I used roasted vermicelli packet).
2-In a pan heat oil,sputter mustard seeds,chana dal,red chili and curry leaves.
3-Add onions,green chili,ginger and saute until light brown.Add all vegetables and cook until they are done.
4-Now add turmeric powder,chili powder and salt to taste and mix well.Add water and let the mixture come to boil.
5-Then add roasted vermicelli and mix well.constantly keep stirring under medium flame.
6-Cover the upma with a lid for 5-6 minutes and stir well.Serve hot with chutney or sambar and enjoy !!!
